Chevy Chase is an American writer, comedian, and film and television actor. He is best known for his roles in the National Lampoon’s Vacation film series and as Pierce Hawthorne on the NBC comedy series Community from 2009 to 2014. Chase is also a former cast member of Saturday Night Live, famous for his catchphrase, “I’m Chevy Chase, and you’re not.” He has also appeared in several films, including Caddyshack and Seems Like Old Times. After SNL, he then moved on to film roles in the 1980s, earning $7 million per film. In a 2015 review of all 141 SNL cast members, Chase ranked in tenth place in terms of overall importance.

In his later years, Chase has admitted that he may have become quite arrogant and challenging. Problems in his personal life didn’t help things much, with two marriages ending in separation after just a few years. His addiction issues arose to the degree of taking pain medication for a bad back.
